Vintage solid sterling silver large and massive (approx. 2 1/8" tall with bale
and jump ring, ~ 1 3/4" tall without the bale loop and ring; weight approx. 7.7 g) Crucifix pendant featuring Slavonic
Orthodox artisan-style ornate "budded" design with a high-relief
image of the Crucified Savior. The obverse is decorated with vine-and-fruit
motif that might
symbolize the life-giving nature of the Savior's Cross, and also refer to
the preaching of Christ: "I am the vine; you are the branches" (John
15:5).
The large soldered jump ring of the pendant bears two punch marks, one of which displays the "925" hallmark indicating the "sterling" purity. In addition, it was tested positive for the "sterling" purity of silver. The item has visual vintage appearance with signs of aging and wear that might include diminished quality of the artwork, deformations of its original shape, scratches, dents, and patches of discoloration/patina. The bale loop and soldered jump ring show signs of wear consistent with many years of continuous wearing of the pendant. The size and weight of the item are shown on the photographs for this listing.
