Broadcast as the sixth installment of the "World Masterpiece Theater", "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" is a popular work that Nippon Animation animated from Mark Twain's original work ("The Adventures of Tom Sawyer"). The songs and music are collected on two CDs!

The music was composed by Hattori Katsuhisa, a leading composer and arranger in the Japanese pop music world, who sadly passed away in 2020. He was in charge of all the theme songs, insert songs, and in-movie music (BGM). From humorous songs to dramatic songs and easy listening-style pop songs, a wide variety of music colors the delightful adventures of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn.

This album is the definitive edition, adding songs that have been previously released on records, CDs, etc. to the first CD and first commercialized sound sources. The first half of DISC 1 is a reprint of the music album "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" released by Canyon Records at the time of the broadcast, in its original configuration (this is the first time the stereo-recorded instrumental songs have been released on CD). The second half of DISC 1 and DISC 2 contain the complete original background music. As a bonus track, original karaoke versions of the two theme songs are also included!
