This is a rare early pontiled "Godfrey's Cordial" tapered medicine bottle from the 1820s with original label....no embossing in the glass. The label reads BENn GODFREY WINDUS. 61.Bishopsgate Street...OFFICE STAMP ...Open Pontil....crude thin flared lip....aqua...tapered cylinder...5 1/2"tall...Sparkling attic mint condition with only one tiny no harm pinhead nick on top of lip; no other issues. Crude natural bumpy texture glass. There had been a Benjamin Godfrey listed at 61 Bishopsgate Street in London as early as 1732. Benjamin Godfrey Windus was his grandson who continued selling Benjamin Godfrey's Cordial after his grandfather died around 1812. This rare labeled bottle dates from the 1812-1820s I believe....
