In late 1954, after an absence from the market since 1941, John Deeer announced a line of industrial tractors and equipment. The Model 40 Utility tractor painted industrial yellow, fraved the cover of the 20 page sales literature. While industrial yellow was the primary choice for it and the Industrial Model 40 Crawler, some of the Utility Tractors were also painted “highway orange”. The success of these tractors led to the formation of the John Deere Industrial Division in 1956.
