Mildred E. Lusk was a tremendous early to mid 20th century female painter or the Northeastern United States. Born in Massachusetts, she exhibited in the 27th annual show at the Worcester Art Museum. While little known, her works are extremely scarce having been almost entirely held by the family which did not help her talent become appropriately appreciated. Known for her soft, delicate impressionist style, her use of color and composition is incredibly delightful. Painting many landscapes including coastal scenes and even some architectural, she was talented across many areas which is apparent when viewing this fine collection. The entirety of this collection which came directly from the family shows mostly locations in Maine, Massachusetts and New York. Painting primarily in watercolor, this selection serves as a tremendous example of this overlooked talented American female painter of the 20th century. The collection of artworks has been kept unframed for the last 80 years which has resulted in condition issues ranging from minimal handling to some minimal rips and tears.
