- Xilografía, grabado en madera. Perteneciente al periódico ‘Noticias ilustradas de Londres’. Era un suplemento que sacaban junto al periódico.

- En el grabado se refleja en la parte baja, un grabado de la costa de Alicante siendo bombardeada por tres fragatas.

- En la parte superior un grabado de la pareja de exploradores británicos Samuel White Baker y su mujer Florence Baker. En la parte trasera únicamente hay texto.

- Gran parte de la hoja, escrita en inglés, habla sobre el bombardeo ocurrido en Alicante por la escuadra cantonal de Cartagena, en el año 1873. En él participaron las fragatas ‘Numancia, Méndez Núñez y el vapor, Fernando El Católico’, que aparecen en el grabado.

- Y una pequeña parte de la hoja habla sobre la pareja de exploradores británicos.

- Estamos ante un grabado en madera, xilografía. Es sin duda la técnica de grabado más antigua, que se remonta al S.XIV en Europa. El artista utiliza una herramienta para quitar trozos de madera y hacer un dibujo en negativo.

- Tiene un tamaño grande, horizontal y está sin enmarcar.

- Que el Grabado tenga algún Distintivo, Marca o Contraste, es de gran importancia para poder identificar datos como su grabador, el dibujante, el sitio donde se imprimió y otros detalles.

- Estado general Bueno.

- El Grabado tiene un papel de espesor medio y buena calidad.

- Únicamente tiene una pequeña mancha de óxido en la parte superior, el resto son pequeñas manchas casi inapreciables.

- Presenta el desgaste propio de su tiempo.

- Las Medidas son aproximadas.

- Los tonos de los colores de las fotos no son iguales a los tonos de los colores reales.

- Woodcut, wood engraving. Belonging to the newspaper ‘Illustrated News from London’. It was a supplement that was published with the newspaper.

- The lower part of the engraving shows an engraving of the coast of Alicante being bombarded by three frigates.

- At the top, an engraving of the British explorer couple Samuel White Baker and his wife Florence Baker. On the back there is only text.

- A large part of the sheet, written in English, talks about the bombardment of Alicante by the cantonal squadron of Cartagena in 1873. The frigates ‘Numancia, Méndez Núñez and the steamer, Fernando El Católico’, which appear in the engraving, took part in the bombardment.

- And a small part of the sheet talks about the pair of British explorers.
