This Instant U2 Collection provides a buyer with a true collection covering the best years of U2's illustrious career. It includes their 3rd release, "War", through their 9th, "Pop", (1983-1997), plus their 12th release, "No Line on the Horizon", from 2009. The following releases are included:

"War" - 1983 - This record established U2 as a major force in the Rock world. Filled with what would become classic songs, such as "Sunday Bloody Sunday", "Seconds", "New Years Day", "Surrender", "40" and "Two Hearts Beat as One". Produced by Steve Lilywhite, this is a great rock album.

"The Unforgettable Fire" - 1984 - The band and their music matured with this record, a huge success followed up with a monstrous world tour that left no doubt that U2 was at the pinnacle. "A Sort of Homecoming", the powerful "Pride", "Wire", and the title track carry this record but there is much more. The production from Brian Eno and Dan Lanois brought an ethereal feel to the music that was very different from previous LPs.

"The Joshua Tree - 1987 - Another Lanois/Eno production, again mixed by Steve Lillywhite, this continues down the path begun by "The Unforgettable Fire". "Where the Streets Have No Name", "Bullet the Blue Sky", "In God's Country", "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" are all great sonngs.

"Rattle and Hum" - 1988 - This is a combination Live/Studio album released in conjunction with a documentary film of the same name. The album and film expand on U2's growing interest in American roots music, with elements of blues, folk and gospel. Produced by Jimmy Iovine, includes the hit "When Love Comes to Town" featuring B.B. King.

"Achtung Baby" - 1991 - Back with Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois, "Achtung Baby" is another success in the style of "Unforgettable Fire". "Zoo Station", "One", "The Fly" and "Mysterious Ways" show an influence of alternative and electronic music, moving away from American roots music.

"Zooropa" - 1993 - A continuation of the style of "Achtung Baby", "Zooropa" won a Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album. While the singles "Numb" and "Lemon" weren't very successful, overall the album sold well.

"Pop" - 1997 - This release continued the exploration of electronic/ alternative music, utilizing new techniques including sampling, sequencing and electronic drum machines, partly as a result of drummer Larry Mullen Jr. back injury. "Discotheque" was the biggest hit off the record, which though well received critically sold less than any previous U2 album.

"No Line on the Horizon" - 2009 - Reuniting with Eno and Lanois, recording in Fez, Morocco, the band's first release in 5 years was an experimental record. While again critically well received, it's sales were low. The band followed this with a two-year world tour, at the time the highest grossing concert tour in history.
