This set of cards was created to commemorate the closing of Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia, the home of the Philadelphia Phillies from 1971-2003. It is co-branded with long-time team sponsors M.A.B. Paints and Tastykake.
The All-Vet Team was voted for by the fans and includes: Steve Carlton (P); Curt Schilling (P); Tug McGraw (P); Darren Daulton (C); John Kruk (1B); Juan Samuel (2B); Larry Bowa (SS); Mike Schmidt (3B); Greg Luzinski (LF); Garry Maddox (CF); Bobby Abreu (RF); and Dallas Green (Manager).
This sale will include one unopened, still factory-sealed set of the 12 cards, plus one header card. No previous owners. The sealed set has been long-term stored in a plastic storage tub in a climate-controlled, smoke-free house since receiving as an exclusive stadium gate giveaway on September 28, 2003.
The ticket stub is also from the last game at the Vet on 9/28/2003. The ticket was immediately placed in the custom Phillies/Veterans Stadium lanyard on game day and has been stored in it ever since, ensuring a near-perfect ticket with sharp edges and corners, no tears, slight fading of the type, and an embossed ticket cancellation reading “Ticket Used”. No previous owners and likewise stored in a plastic storage tub in a climate-controlled, smoke-free house.
