Victorian Era Mechanical Botanists Fruit Picker Book Grabber Gadget Cane

This is a rare late 1800's fruit picker / book grabber.

The fruitwood handle has a lever, which when pulled opens & closes the brass grabber. 

The grabber is embossed with the number: 
'37' 

The grabber features a small gripping surface, to hold the flower or book. 


This rare item was used for both, perfect for an avid garden collector
