My father went to Saudi Arabia in 1948 as an engineer where he and my mother lived and raised a family for over 30 years.

This briefcase was given to me by the late Zaki Yamani who was the Saudi Oil Minister for several decades. He was a diplomatic associate and good friend of my father. 

Minister Yamani received this commemorative briefcase in 1978 at an OPEC Conference of which he was a participant representing Saudi Arabia. He sent the briefcase to my father to give to me. I had met him several times over the years (as a teenager and young man) and he thought I could use it at university and in my own business career. I was tickled pink at his thoughtfulness.

My father learned and spoke Arabic fluently and was well respected by Saudis of all social rank from common laborers, to dignitaries such as the late Minister of Petroleum Yamani (see pic), HRH King Fahd (pic showing shaking hands) and even by the late King Faisal himself.

The briefcase is 15 inches long and 12 inches high. It expands as you stuff more papers and books inside it. The handles push down into the case so that it can be carried under your arm as a valise.

I used the briefcase during my brief corporate career but it is in excellent shape with no rips, tears, holes or stains. Both zippers work fine.

Very rare with lots of history behind it. Ah, the stories I could tell you!
