The commemorative coin “Plontanism” (Ivan Marchuk) is dedicated to the unique technique of Plontanism of the brilliant contemporary artist Ivan Marchuk. His authorial style, similar to lace made of the finest strokes, gives the paintings volume, creating the illusion of dynamic light with a play of shades. This commemorative coin serves as a tribute to the outstanding master, whose talent and innovative approach to painting have gained recognition all over the world. It is the embodiment of the inexhaustible creative power and depth of the Ukrainian soul, which live in every intricate interweaving of lines on the artist’s canvases.

On the obverse of the coin, in the center of the composition, a fragment of the painting “Awakening” is depicted. Created by Ivan Marchuk in 1992. The design motif is a circle that associatively resembles the sun, symbolizing the source of life, energy and development. Under the stylized circle, the inscription UKRAINE is placed vertically, and at the top in the center is a small State Emblem of Ukraine. The coin’s rim is smooth with indented inscriptions indicating the metal and its fineness – Ag 925, the purity – 31.1, the denomination of ten hryvnias, the year of minting – 2024 and the logo of the Banknote and Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine.

The reverse of the coin depicts a fragment of the painting “Awakening” – an image of a girl with a blue-yellow ribbon on her head. She stands against the backdrop of the blooming boundlessness of her native lands, symbolizing the awakening of Ukraine.
