Here is what I believe to be an antique homemade hair net maker from the late 1800s. I ACTUALLY THINK IT MAY DATE BACK TO THE CIVIL WAR ERA BUT CANNOT SAY FOR SURE. One end of the instrument has an open metal prong and the other end has a closed prong. I believe the handle is made of some sort of reed. It is very delicate. There is slight wear on the handle but it is in very good condition, given its age.
This was found among my grandmother’s sewing items, stored in a box.
If someone knows that this might have been used for another purpose, I would welcome the information.
It is a delicate item that has been stowed away very carefully.
