Rare Antique Meiji Lacquered Chinoiserie Snuff Box. C1840

This is an auction for an antique Meiji Chinoiserie snuff box with a black lacquered finish.

There is the remnant of a design in gold and white, sadly much of the design has worn away with age, but what is there is shows it was once a lovely intricate decoration. It was on oriental garden landscape with figures, you can see the heads/faces of two people. The box has a rectangular profile with a gently domed lid and base, making it very tactile.

There is a residue of snuff inside. There is damage to one corner of the box, the crack does not at all on the inside wall, the hinge is intact and works perfectly, the box still has a good seal.

This lovely snuff box measures approximately 7.6cm by 5.5cm by 2.6cm.

This great little collectable is offered in used condition.
