Here's a scarce hand blown pontiled Whitall Tatum specimen jar with its original 1895 patented glass lid & original unique iron yoke clamp.....the jar is hand blown and spun in mold, so there are no mold seams....rough open pontil scar on bottom....crude applied square ring wide mouth collar with original rubber gasket seal on top surface.....8"tall (9 1/2"with lid & clamp).....2 1/2"across base....2 3/8"across widest point of iron clamp...Jar is excellent attic mint condition with no chips or damage of any kind. A couple crude natural folds in the glass on the applied square ring collar from when it was made. (no hairlines or stress cracks).  A nice clean jar. The original glass lid is emb WHITALL TATUM CO. PHILADELPHIA NEW YORK PATENTED JUNE 11th 1895 in nice bold raised letters on top. Glass lid is perfect with no chips or damage....the iron clamp is original and has the patent date on the threaded wheel, but it is worn and I cant make it out clearly......Clamp has some light rust but is in good working condition.  Threaded knob screws down tight on the top of glass lid and clamps on underside of jar collar.
