An antique engraving from the 1800s depicting the Lericil Gulf of Spezzia in Italy, drawn by G. Barnard and engraved by R. Brandard. The artwork is a steel plate engraving on paper, featuring a landscape theme with hand-tinted elements. It is framed in a gold frame and has a printed name of the artists. This piece is an original production from Italy, reflecting realism and capturing the beauty of the Italian landscape.
Robert Brandard (1805, in Birmingham – 1862, in London) was a British landscape engraver and landscapist.
I found this item at an estate sale in Arkansas. The frame measures 15 3/4 inches in height by 18 1/4 inches in width and 1 1/2 inches in depth from front to back approximately. I touched the frame up however you cannot tell by looking at it. The inside dimensions of the gold rectangle that surrounds the print is 10 3/4 inches in width by 8 1/2 inches in height approximately. The print is approximately 8 3/4“ x 6“.
This item is in very good condition for its age. There is some discoloration, and minor wear.
