Mino ware (みのやき) is a general term for ceramics produced in Toki City, Tajimi City, Mizunami City, Kani City, and other places in Gifu Prefecture, Japan. These areas were part of the ancient Mino Province.
Due to the rich clay deposits, these regions have been centers for ceramic production since ancient times. It is said that as early as the 7th century, kilns were established in the area to produce a type of earthenware called "Sueki". Currently, the Gifu area is the largest ceramic production base in Japan. In the national market, Mino ware accounts for over 60%.
