Edition of 1767 of this scarce collection of two works by the polymath physician Jan Johnston (1603-1675) author of different books.
The first one is a volume about the natural history of fishes and cetaceans.
The work is illustrated by out of text 47 plates by Caspar and Matthaus Merian (1621-1687) showing different species of fishes between them a mermaid.
The second work of 1757 is the natural history of snakes.
The text is enriched by twelve plates showing different different speices of snakes, dragons, two species of hydra and a basilisk.
Ex libris in the front counterplate.
In good conditions and complete.
Carton coeval cover with handwritten title in the spine in good general conditions lightly worn in the extremities. Missing parts. Binding in fair conditions with light cracks.
