1960s Kellogg's FROSTED FLAKES Cereal box back, Animal Pin-Up 3-D Cut-Out LEOPARD

In 1964, for a brief time Kellogg's created a group of twelve 3D cut-outs that could be folded into fascinating animal heads that could be displayed on a shelf or hung on a wall. The list of animals included, TIGER, ELEPHANT, POLAR BEAR, MANDRILL (BABOON), WOLF, INDIAN BUFFALO, and this LEOPARD. The 3D cut out pin ups appeared on FROSTED FLAKES, SUGAR POPS, FRUIT LOOPS, and SUGAR STARS.

CONDITION: Excellent.

All are quite rare, maybe because they are quite a challenge to cut out, score, fold, and insert tabs into slots. I have a baboon one that was damaged so undertook the project - it required VERY careful scissor work, and an Exacto knife to cut the slots. You then have to score the dotted lines to facilitate proper folding and tab/slot action. Whew! You can see the finished product in the last three photos - quite realistic for starting out as flat cardboard (the baboon is not for sale). Making my baboon friend was lots of fun, but unrealistic for young children. Interesting fact, though the "pin up" takes up the entire back of cereal box, the completed project measures about 2" x 1 1/4" by the time it is cut and folded

This fun and challenging cereal box project is in excellent condition and is a nice addition to any cereal box collection.

COMPLETED 3D PIN-UP BABOON IS NOT FOR SALE.
