Please take the time to review all my other listings after you have looked at this one!  I will be listing a broad and diverse range of Vintage Communications and Technology items, related Books, Periodicals and Ephemera...something for everyone!

Here is an unusual piece from the UK...  In early 1922, Burnham & Company Wireless Department sold their business to Burndept LTD., who took over the inventory and began making improvements to existing designs as well introducing newly designed gear to the fast growing amateur radio market in England. This is one such item, the Burndept Wireless Apparatus Mark I Tuner.

This set is in good condition with a nicely aged panel and correct early binding posts.  All controls move freely and accurately as they should.  The mitered cabinet is in nice condition with just the normal wear associated with its age and authenticity.

Simply designed, the tuner incorporates an outboard, three coil inductive tuning unit along with the internal variable condensers controlled by the dials on the panel.  There is a linear controlled vernier mounted in the center of the panel.

The brass binding posts and vernier escutcheon plate show some corrosion consistent with their age.  Internally, there are a few re-soldered points and it is a bit dusty.  All the panel screws are present but several lack any real "bite" into the wood.  The Burndept 3-coil holder has a chipped out piece at the top right and bottom right attachment points and a crack in the material at the bottom left attachment.  The coils are not the Burndept brand.  However, none of this really detracts from the nicely aged beauty of this tuner that takes you back in time...

As you can see from the pictures, this tuner has a unique look and will clean up nicely for display on any collection shelf!

The receiver is about 14.25" long, 9.75" wide without coils and stands about 6.25" tall.

Shipping weight will be about 15 pounds.

If you are looking for that scarce British wireless piece for your collection, this might be for you!

I will pack this item properly and with great care.  I have been shipping these kinds of vintage materials worldwide since the 1980's.  Buyer is responsible for shipping and insurance.  I usually ship within one business day after receipt of confirmed payment...
