This is a spring compressor tool for the front drum in a Dodge diesel automatic transmission that assists with removal/installation of the retainer.
It features a centering hub along with an outer ring fitting the stock retainer to help keep everything aligned during removal/installation.
The tool will not let you press very far past the snap ring groove before it bottoms out, preventing excess pressure from being applied.
