The original owner of this book was Clifford B. Sanborn (1874-1942), of Norwood, Norfolk County, Massachusetts.

Sanborn was a graduate of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1896) and of Harvard Law School (1899). He practiced law in Norwood in association with the firm of Sanborn & Squires, beginning in 1904.

He was a Norwood politician and a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives (1913-1914 legislature) for the district comprising Norwood and Walpole. 

He was Clerk of the District Court of Northern Norfolk from 1907, and became presiding Justice of the District Court of Northern Norfolk in 1920.

Sanborn was popular and highly esteemed in Norwood and surrounding towns, in his lifetime.
