What happens when your Voltage Regulator dies? Simple - it's the brain of your generator and usually when it gives up the ghost your generator stops charging your battery and a few days later after only running on your battery, you end up with a dead VW. A bit more rarely it'll let your generator go full-tilt-boogie on charging the battery which will cook it. Both ways will leave you stranded!
The original voltage regulators were a vibrating contact point style which was an electrical / mechanical hybrid and worked about as well as it sounds. They were susceptible to heat, cold, vibration, and dirty looks. So, Bosch revised it to a new transistorized solid-state style which works a million times better and isn't bothered by anything we can find! One heckuva upgrade in every way possible! These only work on 12v generators (both Bosch and aftermarket). Bosch electrical parts are the same ones your VW had when it left the factory and are the best on the market. A smart upgrade whether you need it now or don't want to wait for that old regulator to take a crap!

Bus - 1967-1971 (will work with the original 38-amp GR17 generator used from 68-71 however your output will be limited to 30-amps)
