Illustrated with 47 impressive full page b/w portrait photographs of elderly people by Erich Retzlaff (1899-1993) known for his portraits of workers, farmers, peasants and peasant costumes. "Das Antlitz des Alters" became Retzlaff's first book and cemented his reputation as an art photographer. Three magazine clippings laid in at rear. Text in German. Binding rubbed with light wear along edges, minor chips. Light age-toning of text pages and minor foxing to margins of first photograph, not affecting image. Wrappers in overall good+, interior in very good condition. g+ to vg.
