The copyright is 1989.  I think this is a box as they were packaged back then though you can still find newer ones of this design around today. I found them in my local charity thrift.  I took them out of the box to photograph them and took off the clear plastic wrapper 
around each.. that covering was not holding  up and I decided to just toss them  - have seen other listings where seller didn't. 

I look at these as a novelty but a useful one.  Nice for a two couple dinner party for an conversation starter - note that there are 3 holes on each side - that is, the same number of holes for salt or pepper which is most often not the case.   I'm not doing any entertaining
anymore so someone should have them that does.
