ADOLFE APPIAN  (1880 - 1898)  • "La Port de Monaco"

Appian, herrausragender Lanschaftsmaler des 19. Jahrhunderts, lebte und arbeitete in Lyon.
Neben Gemälden schuf er auch 76 Radierungen. Zusammen mit Corot und Daubigny war er für die
Wiederentdeckung der Radierkunst imn der Mitte des 19. Jahd verantwortlich. 

Appian was one of the outstanding landscape painters of the 19th century. 
He lived and worked in Lyon. Beside his paintings he made 76 etching. 
He was responsible together with Corot and Daubigny for 
the renewal of the etching in the middle of the 19th century.
