REAL BOSCH QUALITY FOR YOUR VW!

By the late 60's, VWs had started to offer modern conveniences more in line with other cars of the time and one of these is a rear window defroster. It's a simple system but over the years it's components can start to break down. One of the more common failures is that 50 year old relay is falling apart, as old electronics are prone to do. Luckily Bosch is still making this relay and it's a new modern relay which will give you decades of reliable service. Now - this will only fix your rear window defroster if the problem is the relay, it obviously won't help if there are wiring or corrosion issues preventing the system from working right however it's a good inexpensive place to start on your troubleshooting.
Do it once - do it right!

What you get:
1 x Part # 111963141B (alt part # 311963141) - Rear Window Defroster Relay made by Bosch (the OEM) - the picture shows the relay from two angles, but you are only getting one relay!

Karmann Ghia 1968 - 1974

Tech Notes:
Most original relays only had 4 terminals however this later style relay has 5. The extra terminal is 87a. Normally any time the defroster is on, power (terminal 30) will switch current to the 87 terminal to the rear defroster. But - any time the rear defroster is not on, the relay will default to the 87a terminal being hot so be sure to cover this terminal with electrical tape or heat shrink to avoid any potential shorts.

As this is an electrical item there are NO RETURNS. However, if you have a problem please let us know and we will work with you. These relays are always good in the box - they are never DOA so if your rear window defroster still isn't working after installing a new relay there are other issues like wiring or corrosion in the rear window that is preventing electrical continuity!
