The Texas Military Department regulation states that the
ribbon of the Texas State Guard Service Medal must have a moiré pattern,
be 1-3/8 of an inch long and 1-3/8 of an inch wide, with perpendicular
stripes of dark blue, white, and red, each 3/32 of an inch wide in the
center.
If you purchased a lower quality medal from a different
seller, it probably doesn't meet the regulations. If you were issued this medal
from the TXSG in the last 5 years, there's a 99% chance it is out of regs (anyone surprised?)
Either way, I would recommend replacing it to stay within regulations, and more
importantly to look your best.

Classic style medal is sealed in packaging of a different manufacturer that mass produces medals and puts less attention to detail into their products. They are not as neatly draped or measured to be 1-3/8 inches long like the others are. You'll probably have to fiddle with the ribbon on this one a bit after you open the package if you plan on mounting it in any way. There are also small imperfections on the medallion itself, like you see in the picture. All this is why this option costs a little bit less. This option is better for putting into a display.
