Title: Return to Firetop Mountain

Summary:

Return to Firetop Mountain is the fiftieth book in the Fighting Fantasy series, written by Ian Livingstone and first published in 1992. In this adventure, the evil warlock Zagor has returned — ten years after his supposed death — and once again threatens all of Allansia. You are the hero chosen to defeat him for good.

Part story, part game — YOU are the hero!
Your adventure starts outside the mountain: do you take the shortcut through brambles or detour through swamps and rivers? On the way, you’ll meet dwarves (with chaotic ferry habits), sick cities, bandits, hermits, and the occasional madman with a wand.

Summary:

First published in 1992, Return to Firetop Mountain is a nostalgic revisit — but far leaner and more punishing than the original. Expect deadly puzzles, many missteps, and moments that make you ask: "Why did I even try that?" This book was written for the 10th anniversary of the Fighting Fantasy series and was originally planned as the final book in the series. A hidden portrait of Ian Livingstone appears in the interior illustration at section 262, showing the Inquisitor's face with sword and dagger.

Seriously, when has attacking the Riddlemaster ever worked? 🙄
