This is a 1908 Liberty V Nickel in appealing high Fine grade condition. It shows a clear Repunched Date (RPD) doubling variety on the upper left side of the date. Close inspection reveals split doubling outside the curve of the '8'. This error stands out easily.
Additionally, upon further review, doubling is also evident on the reverse lettering. The upper left side of the E & N in "CENTS" exhibits extra thickness indicative of a repunched die.
This beautiful 108-year-old nickel has strong design details in general. The obverse displays sharp relief on Liberty and bold lettering. The reverse is likewise well-defined. This is a premium example for both date and variety collectors.
The visible RPD doubling on the date and letters makes this old Liberty Nickel far more intriguing than most. It would be an exciting find for any numismatist or variety enthusiast.
