Circa 1845

Although this piece was produced in the Mid 19th Century France its design is greatly 

influenced by motifs from the ancient Greek empire which was popular towards the end 

of the 18th Century (Napoleon III - Empire period) which Barbedienne favoured greatly.

Cast by hand at his foundry from solid Bronze then decorated

by hand with gilding - these pieces are spectacular!

This beautiful example stands 22cm in height and has a banded

ring of mineral/marble (possibly Carnelian or Griotte) sandwiched 

between the main body of the vase and the gilded metal cover 

plate to base.

Would make a very special and fabulous gift.
