2,4-dinitroaniline is applied in the manufacture of disperse dyes and azo dyes, dyes fur, pigments, pesticides to give 4-nitro-1,3-phenylenediamine, 2-chloro and 2-bromo-4,6-dinitro-anilines used as a corrosion inhibitor.

It is also used for the production of azo dyes and dispersed dyes, but can also be used as printing ink, toner and preservative preparation, and is an intermediate for dispersed dyes, neutral dyes, sulfur dyes, organic pigments.
