100% This set is One of a Kind and BEAUTIFUL!! It includes a 17.5 inch necklace made from 100% Niihau shells of various colors from the Hawaiian island of Niihau. The sunrise shells from Hawaii are the main focal point. This handmade three piece set was made hand made in Hawaii. The latch is made of 2 9mm puka shells and two smaller ones. There are 2 4-5mm puka shells and a sunrise shell piece to stabilize the sunrise shell in place behind the sunrise pendent. I have included a picture showing the back of the main shell and the findings on this necklace as well as the bracelet.
The bracelet is made to match with the Niihau shells of various color groups and separators of sunrise shell pieces and the latch is made up from the same size puka shells as the necklace. The sunrise shell on the necklace is approximately 20mm wide and long, the shell on the bracelet is approximately 15mm wide and tall. the sunrise shell has a small broken piece of sunrise shell is glues to the back of the main shell with a small hole drilled in it to pass through the bracelet thread. the end where the clasp is made of chain stitched thread and finished with 2 9mm puka and two smaller ones,
The earrings have a drop height of 38mm including the 2mm pulka shell part being 20mm from the puka shell top to the bottom of the spiraled Niihau shells. Percentage wise I would say 100% Niihau shells with one puka on each earring top.
I purchased this handmade in Hawaii three piece set on the Big Island in 2006 and only wore once before I put it away as a keepsake. I am not certain of the metal composition of the earring wire, it is non-tarnish sterling or surgical steel. They do not tarnish. All the shells in these pieces were from a local artist's store on the Big island of Hawaii.
