Alfons Borrell Palazón
Alfons Borrel was born in Barcelona in 1931. Attends the Military service in Mallorca and here he becomes a frequent visitor of Anglada Camarassa's studio where he meets and enter into contact with several Mallorca’ artists.
After this experience, he coursed the Escola Superior de Belles Arts de Sant Jordi and in the Sixties he took part in the foundation and first actions of the “ Gallot “ group, well known for avant-garde activities in Barcelona, in the line of what was called action painting.
In the late Eighties, after years of isolation from the Art environment, he starts painting again and exhibits his masterpieces regularly, which are characterized by a sober monochromatism, that broken away from the Informalism materical current and from his early figurative Works.
In 1977 he meets the poet Joan Brossa with whom, years later, would collaborate in the creation of the artist's book "Trasllat".
In 1990 the Sabadell Art Museum sets up a personal exhibition of his masterpieces and the Ateneu Barcelonés commissions a permanent work for the entry of the Auditorium.
Now a day his Work has been included in the permanent collection of MACBA, the Contemporary Art Museum of Barcelona as well as formed part of several international exhibitions.
