Vintage Tonka CAR CARRIER HAULER 1096 Green 1964 - 1969 Pressed Steel Made from 1964-1969, this car hauler is in good shape for it's age. The styling is cool- which is an original Tonka design not copied after a real truck. Has some wear as shown. All metal; plastic wheels. 18-1/2 inches long. A brief history of Tonka Toys of Mound, Minnesota: Tonka was begun by Lynn Everett Baker, Avery F. Crounse, and Alvin F. Tesch in 1946, but it didn’t start out as Tonka; instead Mound Metalcraft in 1946. Tesch re-engineered some old toy concepts left by their building’s previous tenants and dubbed the toys “Tanka,” which means “big” in the Dakota Sioux tongue. This is in As Found Condition. No cleaning, restoration, or in debt testing has occurred. Item has passed visual inspection and is as pictured
