A smallish Aloe native to scrub and grasslands in southern Africa. It forms a spreading rosette of broad, dark green leaves with attractive white markings. The inflorescence is few branched and flower color can vary from yellow to red. Aloe maculata "Robusta" is a particularly big form from the eastern Cape.
