EDUARD VON GRUTZNER, OIL ON CANVAS REPRODUCTION FROM 1890, sold by Bloomingdale's per description on reverse.
MONKS IN PUB WITH A BEER STEIN. This item has been in our family for 40 years, and we never knew the painting's name or the artist until now, thanks to the recent ability to search by image. This appears to be a reproduction piece that was sold by Bloomingdales in 1890, according to the penciled notes on the back of the painting. It is oil on canvas that is mounted in a small, very solid and secure wooden backing. There has been some significant chipping and damage to the painting, as is shown in the images. It is approximately 10" by 8.5" and about 1/2" thick, with its mounting. I have seen other copies of this image under the title of "Monks Around a Table," as well. We are a smoke-free, pet-free home.
