I used this unit a few times while running and training for ultra races as a replacement for the traditional backpacks.  I didn't like it for running as there was more shifting up and down with the pounding of your feet on the ground than with the traditional backpacks so I went back to a backpack.  Unit is still in good condition  and usable and perfectly suitable for hiking but wouldn't  recommend for ultra running.
