This Hallmarked 14ct Gold Filled Hoop Earring is a classic earring design which can be worn alone or with drops and dangles for a more dramatic look. 

The design features a post that slides easily through the hole in the back of the hoop behind your ear, which secures the earring.

Gold filled jewellery is also known as rolled gold or gold bonded and is created by mechanically bonding a layer of gold to a layer of base metal - usually brass. 

The outer gold layer must be at least 1/20 of the overall metal content by weight. 

Therefore it makes a great alternative to gold plating, which is thinner and less durable. 

Unlike gold plated metal, gold filled can be soldered using 9ct or 14ct gold easy solder.

Gold Plated or filled or layered or rolled items are not really gold and does not have much gold value. They are hard to resell. Solid gold jewellery contains high quantity of gold and will always resell even when they are damaged. Buyers should always ask the sellers if the item they are interested in is real solid gold. Most of the solid gold items are stamped which show the content of gold. 375 stamp means 9ct solid gold. 750 or 18k are solid 18 carat gold. 585 or 14k represent 14 carat solid gold.Now the days there are also lots of items in eBay which are stamped even when they are not solid gold. Therefore always ask the seller before you pay for the item. After you receive the item always get them checked by a professional.
