Product Description
The SPEC SB533‑2 Stage 3 Clutch Kit is a high performance clutch upgrade engineered for 3.0L‑powered BMW models from about 2007 through 2020 (including 135i, 335i/335is, 340i, 440i, 535i, and select Z4 / M‑series variants). With a carbon semi‑metallic multi‑puck disc and a robust pressure plate, this Stage 3 kit offers significantly increased torque capacity (around 580 ft‑lbs at the flywheel) and a more aggressive engagement than stock, while still remaining usable on‑street for many drivers. This makes it popular for enthusiasts running higher power levels, race or autocross setups, or cars that see mixed use.
The kit is designed to work with SPEC’s single‑mass flywheel (sold separately) and may include an alignment tool and throw‑out bearing depending on the application. A sprung hub design provides smoother engagement compared to a rigid race‑only unit, helping balance drivability with performance demands. Installation requires removal of the transmission and professional alignment of components, and pairing with an appropriate flywheel is recommended to achieve the best pedal feel and durability.
