OPAL SOLID 17.3 CTS

 SEMI BLACK B.T WITH GREY & RED

 

  MATERIAL FROM MINTABIE FIELDS SA

This type 1 opal creation has been cut to form a 'Kite' shaped design and displays a 'picture stone' pattern with light and dark grey streaks running through a mass of colour predominantly red. 

The play of colour is visible from all angles on both sides.

It is rated by me as N4 - N5 in body tone and has a brightness of around B4.

Shaped as a kite, it has been finished as a low cabochon on both sides and highly polished all round. 

It weighs 17.3cts and has a thickness of between 2 - 4mm. Other dimensions can be seen in the supplied photographs.

The attached photos form an integral part of the overall description. 

Please note there is a very small indentation at the top edge caused by the removal of an inclusion. I have included a photo that shows this small blemish which would eventually be covered by the bezel of your chosen finding.

The attached photos were taken by a Samsung Galaxy S8 mobile phone in natural light or under an incandescent lamp. Apart from cropping they have not been enhanced in any way. 

I am a private seller who was involved in the mining of opal material from the Mintabie, Coober Pedy and Lambina fields for more than 30 years.

 

The material I present for sale (rough or finished) has been either mined or prepared by me and therefore I try to keep prices as realistic as possible. I do not purchase/on-sell any finished products.
