Series: Architectural monuments of Ukraine

It is dedicated to the ancient historical and military-architectural monument, one of the most original fortification structures of the late Middle Ages of Central Europe. The castle was built in the southwest of modern Mukachevo on a mountain of volcanic origin at an altitude of 188 m above sea level and 68 m above the central part of the city. For centuries, it reliably protected the city's inhabitants from enemies. Here the trade and military strategic routes that went from south to north, from west to east, to protect which the castle was laid in. During its existence, the fortress was rebuilt and refined more than once.

On the obverse of the coin there is a stylized image of the inner courtyard of the castle; on the background of the brick entrance gate is the small State Emblem of Ukraine, under which the inscription UKRAINE; Below: on the background of the cobblestones - face value 10, on the mirror background, the inscriptions: ГРИВЕНЬ and the year of issue of the coin 2019.

On the reverse of the coin there is located: Palanok Castle, at the bottom - a stylized display in the water of the old castle (an image of the ancient engravings), in the center there is a stylized image of the well in which the ancient coin was thrown, from which the water circles diverge; left and right inscriptions: CASTLE PALANO; in a circle - a stone masonry, divided by chains.
