Flexibility allows improved handling performance. The applicator easily rides swages and mitigates the risk of swage burn, especially in complicated areas. the backing plates are slightly smaller than the 6" or 8" pads that are designed to velcro grip to these backing pads, this is to avoid catching the surface with the edge of the backing plate when compounding or polishing.
