Japanese Samurai Warrior With Naginata (White Metal).
This Armored Samurai is molded of “White Metal”. Although I do not know exactly what “White Metal” is made of, it is a medium that seems to be perfect to hold the meticulous detail in the statue. Due of the weight of this piece and the patina, the Metal has a feel of pewter. The material is malleable so can be slightly bent and scratched.
Due to the factory packaging, there might be minor bending to thin details like the Naginata and sword scabbard. With care, the bow and arrows can be GENTLY and SLOWLY bent into position….don’t use a tool as it will mar the metal. Warming the metal with a hair dryer on “low” will help…low heat!
For decades, some high-quality figure models have been made of “white metal”. Most that I am a fan of are from either the UK, Europe and Russian area as the artists that create the originals show the highest degree of detail. “White Metal” is the perfect medium for detail.
Many figure modelers paint all types of mediums, but some cast in “white metal’ are either painted or just collected, (non painted), because of the silvery patina….kinda’ like if you had a bronze statue. Who’d paint a bronze, huh? Lol.
I do have one of these in my collection and had to straighten the two weapons.
If you are a serious collector of these, you will see another listing…same quality, detail as a Mounted Samurai Archer.
As always, I am available for questions and will always consider offers.
