This is an original press photo. The London Opera Centre Begins Its Career As A Training Ground For Young Opera Singers: The London Opera Centre has now begun its career and is functioning as a training centre for young opera singers, coaches, and as a rehearsal stage for the Covent Garden Opera Company. The centre was formerly the premises of the old Troxy Cinema in Commercial Road, Stepney, once a favourite of the dockers and their families, which has now been converted, and taken over by the Covent Garden Opera House, and sponsored by the Arts Council. Photo shows Three students practice "The Barber of Seville" in the rehearsal room at the Centre, they are (Left to Right) John Kitchener of Bedford, Marie Hayward of Woolwich and Donald Pilley of Devon. They are under the watchful eye of well known producer Anthony Besch.Photo measures 10 x 8inches. Photo is dated 11-11-1963.
