*NOTE TO EBAY - THESE BOXES ARE EMPTY AND DO NOT CONTAIN ANY RESTRICTED AMMUNITION COMPONENTS*
Up for your consideration is a set of two empty reproduction M1911 .45 ACP 20 round ammunition cartons with FRANKFORD ARSENAL CALIBER .45 TRACER, M1 and HIGH PRESSURE TEST, M1 labels..
In 1939, just before the start of WWII, the Cal. .45 Tracer M1 had been standardized following the increased usage of the earlier Red Signal Cartridge by the Cavalry Department. From March 1939 until May 1942 some three million rounds of this ammunition was manufactured, the bulk of it by Frankford Arsenal and Remington Arms Company. In 1943 the stock of Cal. .45 Tracer M1 cartridges on hand were transferred to the U.S. Navy for issue for signaling purposes. The earliest High Pressure Test or "Proof" cartridges were produced in quantity by Frankford Arsenal prior to WWI, used for testing new and rebuilt M1911 automatic pistols. The High Pressure Test Cal. .45 M1 was officially adopted in the early 1930s, shipping in the standard 20-round carton with applied label. By mid-1943, the 20-round carton had been replaced by a 50-round carton with yellow printed label. Production of proof cartridges continued at Frankford Arsenal through the mid-1950s.
Each "Buy It Now" single purchase is for 2 unassembled cartons with dividers and labels. The cartons, dividers and labels will be shipped flat, with assembly instructions. I had a lot of these made, so if you want multiple sets, just change the purchase quantity before you click on the "Buy It Now" button.
