• Up for a 5 Day Auction is this Lovely Sugar Castor.
  • It was made by Yeoman Plate.  They are/were located in Sawbridgeworth, Herfordshire, England.  I have not been able to get information on the maker.
  • The base reads Yeoman Plate, EPNS, Made in England.
  • EPNS is electroplated Nickel Silver.  Nickel silver is a copper alloy with nickel and often zinc.  Usually it is brass, plated with nickel and then with silver.
  • The height is just under 6 inches.  The diameter of the base is 3 and a half inches.
  • I love this piece, particularly the whimsical cutwork on the cap.
  • The odd thing for me has always been that the top does not screw on.  It eases on and down and if done properly, stays on well.
  • There is corosion on the lower inside which should be cleaned up if you plan to use it.
  • It needs a good polish... but not too often.  A polish cloth is a good thing to have for periodic buffing.
  • There is a medium sized ding on the last curve down to the base.
  • It's a great conversation piece.
  • Happy Bidding!
