Recommendations:
1. Always test spray base coat before application. Metallic and pearl colors are sensitive to spaying pressure and coat thickness. Start test spaying with light coats, add more heavier coats for best match. Heavier coats will make the color darker (see listing's pictures). If color does not match, contact us via Ebay messaging system.
2. Primer, Base Coat and Clear Coat flow will change depending on the temperature. Lower temperatures will reduce drying speed, which may cause "runs". Before applying to the vehicle, test spray using spraying card (included in every order) to determine drying speed.
Surface Preparation Instructions:
If spraying new unprimed plastic, the surface must be lightly sanded with 600 sandpaper or automotive Scotch-Brite pad, cleaned with Wax & Grease remover or alcohol and sprayed with a single coat of adhesion promoter, before applying primer/color/clear coat.
If spraying primed parts or over existing paint, primer is optional, adhesion promoter is not required. The surfaces will need light sanding and cleaning before spaying color and clear coat.
Primer Instructions:
Primer ships with reducer and activator. Primer must be reduced and activated before spraying.
Mixing cups are included with the kit.
Mixing ratio is 4 parts primer to 1 part activator to 1 part reducer for high-build primer.
For sealer (thin primer) mix 4 parts primer to 1 part activator to 2 parts reducer
Spraying Pressure (18-22 PSI)
Optimal temperature - 68 to 80 degrees
Nozzle size - 1.4mm to 1.7mm
Number of coats - 2 to 3 medium coats
Time between color coats - 20 min at 70 degrees
Sanding between coats in not needed
If shape correction is required, primer can be sanded after drying, before applying color coat.
Drying time before spraying color coat - 2 to 3 hours at 70 degrees
Color Coat Instructions:
Color coat ships ready to spray. It will need shaking only, before spraying.
Spraying Pressure (18-22 PSI)
Optimal temperature - 68 to 80 degrees
Nozzle size - 1.2m to 1.3mm
Number of coats - 2 to 3 light to medium, depending on color matching
Time between color coats - 15 min at 70 degrees
Sanding between coats in not needed
Drying time before spraying clear coat - 45 min at 70 degrees
Clear Coat Instructions:
Clear coat ships with premeasured activator. Activator is added to the can with clear coat before spraying. If splitting for multiple applications, mix 4 parts clear coat to 1 part activator.
Spraying Pressure (18-22 PSI)
Optimal temperature - 68 to 80 degrees
Nozzle size - 1.3mm to 1.4mm
Number of coats - 2 to 3 medium to heavy coats to build gloss
Time between coats - 15 min at 70 degrees
Sanding between coats in not needed
Drying time before polishing - 48 hours at 70 degrees
