Borax Flux Fine Granular has a variety of uses, a component that can be used to glaze ceramic crucibles, also as a flux in casting and soldering. 

Borax is an industrial grade when used in melting of Gold and Silver helps to dissolve Oxides and other impurities and  produce a fluid borate slag that collects on the surface of the molten metal. This slag is periodically removed, by use of a carbon-graphite or clay rod. 

Borax has is a component that can be used to glaze ceramic crucibles, as a flux in Jewelry casting and soldering.
