Sport Royal by Anthony Hope, 1952  This book is one of a group of books I am listing published by The Story Classics. From the last chapter of the book, titled About the Book, “In describing the motives that shaped the British variety of English-language novel being written in 1894, Andrew Lang rose from a dinner chair in the royal Academy to lament: “The thrift plan of giving us sermons, politics, fiction, all in one stodgy sandwich, produces no permanent literature, produces but temporary ‘tracts for the times.’ Fortunately we have among us many novelists -- young ones, luckily -- who are true to the primitive and eternal, the Fijian cannons of fiction.”

This small hardcover book (6 x 9 ½ inches, 223 pages) was published by The Story Classics of Emmaus, Pennsylvania dated 1952. The book is bound in black cloth covered boards with a half spine in beige cloth and a black and gold picture on the front and titles on the spine.  I have included a photo of the Table of Contents for additional information.  The book has illustrations by Arno E. Schuele throughout.

Condition:  This book is in very good condition.   The gold sleeve is slightly beat up with some edge wear and a bunch of scratches and dings in it.  However it served its purpose because the covers are in really nice shape with just one very small spot on the black part of the cover.  Inside, the interior pages are clean and bright, from cover to cover.  Both hinges are fully intact and the binding is tight and sound.  This book is not an ex-library or a remainder.

Shipping:  This book will be very carefully packed, with bubble wrap and solid cardboard protection and promptly mailed upon payment.  Please note that I do not charge for packing and handling; all you pay is the postage.  Media mail postage for this book will be only $3.27.  Within the US for domestic mailings, combined shipping for multiple purchases is gladly offered.
