Hand Painted Ink on Silk Fukusa commissioned from the Kano School of the famous ancient Japanase Artisan Kano Yukinobu. In Japan the Laughing Buddha is called “Hotei”. This Fukusa is quite rare and historic in Japan and please display this beautiful Fukusa as wall art.

Fukusa’s are fancy Silk Japanese Gift Wrapping Textiles used to wrap presents Also, they are used for purifying equipment during a Japanese Tea Ceremony

This Fukusa was painted during the early Showa Period in Japan (1929 -1989 during the reign of Hirohito). Paintings of Budai (Hotei) are frequently pictured together with groups of playing children (Karako).
